The
school bus is an extension of school itself. Transportation to and from
school is a privilege and not a right, according to board policy.
Students
shall be responsible for their behavior on the school bus. Misbehavior
can result in the bus driver being distracted which could endanger the
lives of everyone on the bus.
We ask for parents to explain the
importance of proper behavior on the bus, and if needed, for them to
support disciplinary action that may help their child change behavior.
The
primary responsibility of the bus driver is to transport students
safely. While transporting students, the bus driver’s primary
responsibility is student safety while also maintaining discipline on
the bus.
As such, the bus driver is in charge of the bus and the riders
at all times and holds the same authority as a classroom teacher.
