COURSE OBJECTIVES

Students will:

  1. Sing on pitch.

  2. Sing songs using Do, Re, Me, Fa, Sol, La, Ti, Do and use Kodaly hand signs.

  3. Sing songs in groups on different roles.

  4. Use correct listening skills with teacher direction.

  5. Identify and use classroom instruments to keep a steady beat and play simple rhythms with and without live or recorded music.

  6. Visually recognize whole, half, quarter, and eighth notation (notes and rests).

  7. Identify the musical alphabet (A-G) and note names on the musical staff using the treble clef.

  8. Identify musical forms that are presented to them.

  9. Complete a project about a composer that is assigned to them.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  8. Identify the musical forms that are presented to them.

  9. Complete a project about a composer that is assigned to them.

  10. Identify characteristics of each instrumental family and instruments included in those families.

  11. Identify music elements presented to them. (dynamics, tempo, etc.)

  12. Perform on a recorder using correct hand position, finger placement, and breath support for appropriate tone production.

  7. Read a music staff in treble clef by identifying the note names.

  8. Recognize the bass clef symbol and identify the note names in that clef.

  9. Identify music forms that are presented to them.

  10. Complete a project about a composer.

  11. Identify music elements presented to them. (dynamics, tempo, etc.)

  12. Read and formulate music using time signatures 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 and 6/8.

  13. Students will improvise simple rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic parts.
