COURSE OBJECTIVES

Students will be able to:

  1. Produce artwork using different media, tools and processes.

  2. Learn basic color theory and shapes/symbols.

  3. Study the work of well-known artists.

  4. Learn basic art vocabulary and display and critique artwork.

CONTENT/TIMELINE OUTLINE

Weaving (paper), drawing, painting, (watercolor/tempera), cutting and folding paper, sculptures, printmaking, use rulers and patterns.

  1. Color Wheel: primary, secondary, mixing colors.

Geometric shapes/symbols.

Discuss well-known art using vocabulary.

  1. Use the artwork of well-known artists to inspire, illustrate and educate students.

  2. Show artwork to class and discuss.

View Art Show. Discuss well-known art using vocabulary.

Assessment:

Portfolio

Performance assessment - teacher observes student performance.

Project assessment- by teacher and student (and class at times)

Outstanding projects chosen for display.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Students will be able to:

  1. Produce artwork using different media, tools and processes - add on more media and tools from 1st grade.

  2. Learn basic color theory and shapes/symbols.

  3. Study the work of well-known artists - additional well-known artists from 1st grade.

  4. Continue to add to the basic art vocabulary. Display and critique artwork.

Drawing, painting, clay/clay tools, cutting and folding paper, sculpture, printmaking, rulers and patterns. Dinosaur project tied to Dinosaur study at 2nd grade classrooms.
